Jonathan Pike was born in Leatherhead, Surrey in 1949. He studied painting art, prints and posters at the Central School of Art and Design, London (1967-68) and at Falmouth School of Art, Cornwall (1968-71 BA Fine Art), where he was taught by Francis Hewlett and Robert Organ.
In 1972 he moved to Deptford, London, where he lived for 13 years. It was here that the urban landscape became the dominant subject of his art, prints and posters. He still lives in South East London.
