Artist Biography

Susan Winget

Watercolor art, prints and posters by Susan Winget depict her heartfelt love for the values of traditional rural life. Her charming themes, classic color schemes, and country quilt motifs are a natural extension of her personality and vision as an artist. She captures the timeless nostalgia of her own environment: ducks splashing in the pond, cows bowing their heads in the pasture, and with paint and paper, is able to share it with others.

The award-winning watercolorist captures lifestyles and values on art, prints and posters that seem to belong to another time. She portrays a world where peace, harmony, and serenity still reign, a world of porch swings, ponds, ponies, and picket fences, of teacups, teddy bears, red barns, ripe apples, and favorite things all on a shelf.

After graduating from UNC at Chapel Hill with a fine arts degree, Winget got a job painting watercolors for furniture stores, galleries, and gift shops. After having children, she decided to paint at home and continued selling her art, prints and posters to the same market. From watercolors in 1982, the business grew into greeting cards, calendars, and other stationary items. Since then, Susan's look has spread to ceramics, rugs, wallpaper, puzzles, fabric, and for the first time, which are published by Sagebrush Fine Art.
