The farmer and his wife have hitched up the sleigh, bundled the kids against the winter air and are headed into town for last-minute holiday errands. Their dog was told to stay home but, sensing the festive atmosphere, decided to tag along. As they arrive at the edge of town only he notices the deer watching with alert curiosity from a nearby knoll. In this nostalgic scene, Terry Redlin re-creates warm memories from a time past when people traveled just a little slower and always had time to visit with friends and neighbors.
