The loon is rarely seen on land, and generally leaves the water only to nest. However, here the unusual has taken place. For several years the artist and this loon pair shared the beauty and solitude of a northern lake. One fall day, while scouting for picture ideas, he happened on this scene and has recorded for us the seldom seen large and sleek body of this unique species.
