John Seerey-Lester has gone back in time to capture, on canvas, the legends of the golden era of hunting. English born, Seerey-Lester moved to America 25 years ago and has been painting wildlife of the world ever since. But his reputation in England grew out of painting nostalgic scenes of the late 1800s and early 1900s. Now he is combining this interest for history with his passion for nature.
His new series has caused quite a stir among art buyers, and there is a waiting his for his originals, which chronicle not only the safaris of the early 1900s in Africa and India, but also take a nostalgic look back at North America's hunting heritage. Each painting depicts an actual event in hunting history and is accompanied by the story behind the piece. A book, Seerey-Lester -- Legends of the Hunt featuring one hundred images and stories, is to be published in 2009.
