'One of my favorite things to do is draw or paint horses. When I think about the American West, one of the first images that come to mind is the horse. From the earliest days when Cortez arrived on the shores with his sixteen horses, the horse has helped carry the history and legacy of the West. They give a feeling of freedom while galloping in the wide-open spaces. It is in these wide-open spaces that they are valued the most to work the ranches. In cow horse country they are a true treasure. This painting is my tribute to the American Cow Horse.'
