Hollyhocks remind me of my grandmother, who always grew a colorful array of them against her back fence. When I was little, she showed me how you could take a hollyhock blossom and turn it inside out to reveal a little lady with a long petal skirt. My own little daughter was just as delighted when my mother, a wonderful gardener, showed her how to 'find the lady'.
