The title 'Daughter of a Great Romance' comes from a Dar Williams song and it is true of my daughter in this painting. The heart in the sand is like a sand castle or anything else at low tide - you know it's going to wash away but the feelings are true and the romantic idea of what love should be, young and innocent.
