Upon receiving a B.F.A. from Washington University Art School in St. Louis, John Atwater worked as a commercial artist. He then devoted all of his time to maritime painting. Much of his work is contemporary, representational and is done in watercolor on paper. The other portion of his work is done in oils and captures the light and atmosphere of the Hudon River and Maine coast. John Atwater has exhibited widely and won numerous awards. He is president of the Connecticut Watercolor Socitey and a member of the American Watercolor Society and the American Society of Marine Artists. Hal Mayforth was born and raised in Vermont. He graduated from Skidmore College with a degree in Fine Art. Hal has been the recipient of many awards and honors, among them being named Cartoonist of the Year by the National Cartoonists Society in 1993 and a swimming award at Camp Abnaki in the early '60's. In addition to drawing little guys with big eyes and big noses for money, he is also serious about drawing in his sketchbooks every morning and fashioning those drawings into really cool paintings. He continues to play guitar each day and weekly with his band, The Juptier Kings. His illustration clients include: Time, Newsweek, Forbes, The Atlantic, Rolling Stone, U.S. News & World Report, The Wall Street Journal, Outside, Sports Illustrated, Coke, Pepsi, IBM, HBO, Showtime, Lotus, Chase, Pepsico, Honeywell, Merrill-Lynch, General Electric, GTE, and Bell Atlantic.
