This painting was completed in 1908. York was the only African American member of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and this scene was in the Mandan village in 1804-05. This print was produced using a high quality textured paper in 1964. The Montana Historical Society commissioned this print in honor of Montana's National Territorial Centennial celebration (1864-1964) and it's Diamond Jubilee celebration of 75 years of statehood.
