Franz Richard Unterberger was a painter of art, prints and posters who was born at Innsburch on August 15, 1838. He was a pupil of the Munich Academy and later studied in Milan under Albert Zimmermann. He also studied in Dusseldorf under Andreas Achenbach.
In 1860 Unterberger visited Norway and later settled in Brussels, where he followed the Belgian School of art, prints and posters. He also visited Southern France and Italy and made several visits to the coasts of England and Scotland.
During his career Unterberger won many medals, including the Order of Francis Joseph, for his art, prints and posters.
