Dan DiPaolo

Dan DiPaolo's artwork is all about personality; full of the whimsy and playful, his art, prints and posters celebrate life and quirky features of the human spirit. According to Dan, much of his inspiration comes from people he knows: his best friend's mom; the couple that lives on the farm down the road; a gaggle of girlfriends from his hometown of Lockport, New York. "I make art everyday and sing out loud- I have wonderful supportive friends that indulge my insanity and my art."

Growing up, Dan DiPaolo spent his childhood imagining other places, like the "cheese moon that he flew to on Saturdays with his cat". After attending art school, he waited tables until he realized that he missed the art world too much to stay away. Dan now lives in a brick farmhouse in Indiana, where he's converted several of the rooms into separate studios for the different mediums he works in for his art, prints and posters. However, the epicenter of his creativity is the kitchen table--where he can be found in the pre-dawn hours sketching and drawing before going out to feed "the girls", his barn full of Merino sheep, goats, hens and turkeys.

Besides the traditional art, prints and posters that Dan DiPaolo is known for, he also sculpts and writes. He continues to dazzle with a new line of artwork created exclusively for August Moon, his collaboration with Karen H. Good. From snowmen to angels, Dan's mixed media compositions and eclectic artwork are a whirlwind of funky folk art -- some created from wood, tin, springs and paint.
