Artist Biography

It is true that an artist expresses best that which he has a passion for and a familiarity with. It follows that many of Mike Stidham's art, prints and posters are connected to the world of rivers and fly fishing.

Those who collect Stidham appreciate the simplicity and graceful impressionism of his art, prints and posters. Each piece is created through an age old copper etching process and individually hand painted. No two are exactly alike. Mike is uniquely qualified to paint the outdoor world. Before beginning a full-time painting career, he spent several summers as a fishing guide in the Yellowstone country of Montana. For the past twenty-five plus years he has traveled through the world observing wildlife, fishing and painting.

Mike's art, prints and posters have appeared in numerous private collections and publications including Trout, Outdoor Life, Fly Fisherman and Rod and Reel. He has also illustrated several books on fly-fishing including for authors Jack Dennis and Randall Kaufmann.
