For Persis Weirs, becoming an artist of wildlife art, prints and posters seemed only natural. Growing up on an island off the Maine coast, she developed her artistic skills through close observation of the wildlife around her.
She began drawing as a child, concentrating mainly on horses and by the early 80's turned her attention to the full-time painting of wildlife art, prints and posters.
As an artist, she hopes "to share through my work my respect for wildlife and my sense of responsibility for the environment. If my paintings can pass on to others just a fraction of the pleasure and fascination I find in nature, then I have succeeded.”
