Randy Peyton

Artist Biography

Back to Art, Prints & Posters Collection
Randy Peyton

This fourth generation San Antonian, has strong ties to the Texas Hill Country. In fact, his art, prints and posters of Hill Country landscapes and the famous Texas bluebonnets in bloom provided the initial impetus for Peyton's career as a professional artist. Peyton remembers, "From a very young age I knew I wanted to be an artist. It seems all my friends were jealous because I was the only one who really knew what I wanted to do."

However, just because he was destined to be an artist did not mean he was not going to need plenty of determination. In the schools he attended there were no art classes. So, every spare minute he painted on his own, teaching himself and developing his abilities. His work turned out to be so good that a local restaurant began selling his art, prints and posters as fast as Randy could paint them.

In 1981 Randy decided to move back to San Antonio, where he lives today, to pursue his painting full time. Peyton's first one-man show was an overwhelming success. All of his art, prints and posters sold in less than an hour. The artist continued to focus on the Texas Hill Country until he traveled to Europe in 1987. He fell in love with European landscapes and cityscapes and in particular, Monet's famous lily pads.
