Brassai (Gyula Halasz), a Hungarian-born photographer, is most well known for his art, prints and posters of Paris.
Brassai initially began his career as a modest newspaper photographer and came into limelight with the publication of his scenes of Parisian nightlife, Paris de nuit, in 1933. Some of his most popular art, prints and posters also depicted the cafe crowds of Paris. Between 1936 and 1963, Brassai served as a photographer of Harpers Bazaar.
A very close friend of Picasso, Brassai published numerous photographs of famous artists while at work in the studios. These art, prints and posters were published in the journal, Minotaure.
