Stephen Dinsmore, born and raised in Nebraska, graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1974. He presents paintings that testify to the vitality of representational art as a means of communicating visual poetry. Many of his paintings have titles of rural areas, but Dinsmore synthesizes his images from several sources. At times, his paintings border on the abstract, while in other instances they seem to convey a specific sense of place.
Dinsmore states, "Something seen or remembered is the starting point. From there, the painting is a process of discovery and arrival. Through painting, I attempt to convey an inward response to nature and a reverence for the natural world. In this respect, my paintings are a synthesis of actual, imagined, remembered, and felt responses.”
