Sarah Jarrett

Artist Biography

Sarah Jarrett

British artist Sarah Jarrett combines the art of photography, painting and stitching. She strives to maintain a technique that is experimental and interesting. Color and the qualities of natural light play a central role in her art, prints and posters. She works primarily in oils, using a dry brush technique to retain the flatness of the image.

The extent that Sarah paints over a photographic print varies. In some pieces she prefers a very painted look while on some pieces the use of paint is very subtle. Machine stitching is often the final process in the construction of her art, prints and posters and is used to add further dimension to the piece and is also important in giving an additional dynamic to accentuate the linear qualities of the piece.

Sarah's most recent images depict natural forms. Her art, prints and posters is very much dictated by the seasons. The four acres of wild gardens and meadows in the Norfolk countryside where she lives is her inspiration. Sarah currently exhibits her originals in galleries and produces commercial work as well.
