Artist Biography

Ludmila Curilova

Ludmila Curilova was born and raised in Chisinau, Maldova, a city located near the foothills of east Romania. She was the fourth of six children. Ludmila's childhood was spent in an atmosphere filled with creativity, thus contributing to her later interest in art, prints and posters. Her parents were both active with the Maldova National Theater of Opera and Ballet, her father as a set designer and her mother as a ballerina.

As a child she was strongly encouraged to explore her natural ability and interest in painting, art, prints and posters. Ludmila Curilova's passion for painting led her to study at the College of Art, Repin It was here that she was exposed to a variety of styles and media, though she still favors the traditional techniques of using brushes and art knives to work acrylic and oils onto the canvas.

Ludmila's style is unique; she takes typical subjects and infuses them with her own magical feelings. Each image of her art, prints and posters is ripe with symbolism and speaks of themes from across the ages. Woven within each of these themes are the secret and personal messages of the artist. Principal amongst these is the ideal that each woman is a princess inside. For Ludmila Curilova, her art has been a journey of discovery, inspired by the personal changes in her life. An art whose activity not only gives her a deep sense of satisfaction, but one that allows us to view the depths of her spirit.
