Artist Biography

Karla Davison

Karla Davison was born and raised in Loudenville, a small town in Ohio, where her mother gave the occasional music lesson. At the age of seven, Davison's mother arranged private art lessons in return for piano lessons. Through the private lessons, she became familiar with every facet of creative art and developed talents in various media. She sold her first piece of art at the age of twelve and went on to earn the highest honors for her art in both her junior and senior years.

Davison was awarded a full four-year scholarship to the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles, which she attended for one year. She continued her education at Arizona State University where she studied art exclusively, majoring in Design. She rounded out her education at the University of Arizona, studying collage, gouache, acrylics, oils, inks and pastels.

Her years of experience and extensive studies helped her master a versatility that transcends creative boundaries. In her work, she incorporates topics from her travels and life experiences. Her particular strength, however, lies in her ability to translate her long and careful observations of nature into organic and surprising images. Davison paints from the heart, with a passion for color that is evident in her popularity as an artist.
