Jennifer Strasenburgh

Jennifer Strasenburgh's goal is to portray a sense of beauty, strength and balance through her art, prints and posters. "Each piece contains a group of simple shapes arranged in various compositions that play on the balance and weight of each element. Color, as another element, also balances each composition, adding a warmth and beauty to the metal . The copper and silver metals add another level of strength and stability to the compositions in their implied weight and surface quality. It is through this combination of materials and compositional elements that I strive for beauty, strength and balance."

Jennifer Strasenburgh received her degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1997. She then began showing her art, prints and posters and working as a commission artist. She and her family moved back to the Philadelphia area in 2002, and since being back she has had a solo show in Philadelphia as well as a solo exhibition at the Lancaster Museum of Art. Strasenburgh still shows regularly in Denver and Boulder, Colorado as well as the Los Angeles area.

"My mixed media artwork is created on either Stonehenge archival printmaking paper or on cradled panels that I build myself. The works combine layers of acrylic paint, copper and silver. The metal has been treated to give it an aged, weathered richness. Each piece is then sealed to protect and finish the final work." Jennifer Strasenburgh creates her works on paper and panel in my home studio. Having a studio at home allows her the most flexibility in her creative process because she is able to sketch and work out designs for her art, prints and posters at any hour of the day.
