Artist Biography

Gilles Archambault

Gilles Archambault was born in Montreal, Canada on January 6, 1947. The artist began his career in the advertising business as a photographer/illustrator. With over 100 book covers and illustration designs for Kraft General Foods, Reader's Digest and Bristol-Myers, Archambault changed directions in 1979 to devote himself entirely to his rapture for painting and creating art, prints and posters.

For many years watercolor was Gilles Archambault's passion; then three years ago he made an alternation to acrylic. In his new medium, he created inspirational and romantic European art, prints and posters. Archambault's work is intended to convey his love of sunshine, light, and his fascination with the plays of shadow that shape existing forms into masses and create their own distinct theme.

It is typical for Gilles Archambault to depict the silence of Provence streets scenes, slow moving canals, wonderful colored doors with clay pots overflowing with numerous blooming plants, and everywhere enchanting blue shutters. The artists exhibitions of art, prints and posters began in 1980. His partial list of corporate collectors is nearing one hundred. Private collectors are in the United States, France and other European countries, Saudi Arabia and Canada.
