As early as the age of three, and a "masterpiece in the making', David began creating drawings that stunned his family and friends. By the time he was a senior in high school, David has won the only art scholarship offered in the United States by the Colorado Institute of Art. His achievements propelled him to create the award winning illustration firm, Uhl Studios, which has created thousands of art, prints and posters for many Fortune 500 companies. During a 1993 "run' to Sturgis, South Dakota, he witnessed first-hand the unique style of Harley-Davidson enthusiasts.
He has always been particularly taken with the mechanics of light, interacting with objects cast in perspective, but he was even more powerfully influenced by the emotion and confidence of great masters like John Singer Sarget, Nicolai Fechin, and the French Impressionists. David endeavored to capture an unfettered, timeless quality with his own art, prints and posters. Already familiar with the Harley-Davidson lifestyle, David's emphasis naturally gravitated toward alluring, romantic imagey in the Harley-Davidson Archives.
He currently resides in the secluded foothills of Colorado's Rocky Mountains with his wife Elizabeth, and children Isabella and Sterling. He is currently exploring the direct interpretation of live subject matter in his art, prints and posters including figures, landscapes, and a variety of interior arrangements.
