Danhui Nai was born and raised in mainland China. As the child of a sculptor and a painter, it is a small wonder that she showed an interest in art, prints and posters at a very early age. She attended evening art classes after school, and then spent four years studying interior design at Wu Xi Light Industry College in China. After college, Danhui moved to New York City, where she worked as a textile designer, and studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology at night.
In her art, prints and posters, Danhui Nai paints with a variety of media including watercolors, gouache, acrylics, oils and tempera. She uses a layering technique to apply color.
Currently living in the San Francisco Bay area, Danhui Nai has a flower garden outside her studio and loves to paint in the garden when weather permits, stating that much of her inspiration for her art, prints and posters comes from her flowers.
