Artist Biography

Chuck's art, prints and posters are noted for their exceptional portrayals of the West, its unique beauty and history, and the proud spirit of its people. His approach to painting is a natural outgrowth of his own experiences. As an accomplished rodeo rider, rancher, and cutting horse trainer, this multifaceted man has successfully intertwined the threads of art and ranching throughout much of his adult life. Following an unswerving dedication to excellence, Chuck has achieved a well-deserved reputation for artistic skill among his contemporaries in the arts, as well as with the many collectors who own his posters, prints and paintings.

A consummate craftsman, Chuck works in the style of the old masters, beginning with a meticulous under painting followed by the gradual buildup of glazes to produce a shimmering depth of tonality and color. The results of this laborious process are evident in the remarkable light and beauty of his authentic western scenes in all of his art, prints and posters.

He received the prestigious Golden Spur Award for cover art by the Western Writers of America. His art, prints and posters were recently featured at the Paint Horse Association Convention in Midland, Texas. Collector's Mart Magazine listed him as the top western artist in the country, and Chuck has had the distinction of being the State Artist of Texas.
