Charlotte Foust

Artist Biography

Charlotte Foust grew up in a creative environment in North Carolina. Her mother was a skilled seamstress and her father was a hobby painter who worked with oils to create landscapes and realist paintings. Foust began her art education in high school and continued with a degree in art from the University of North Carolina. After graduation, Foust began working as a custom framer, where she made many connections in the art industry. She soon opened her own studio space, and seven years later she opened her own gallery, where she continues to work and paint.

Foust works on several pieces at once, building the texture and color of each piece as she moves among them.

"My work evolves from working intuitively with line, paint and collage elements. From the repeating of line and gesture, faces and figures emerge from the process. By not censoring what comes through, the images are an exploration of both personal and cultural motifs.”
