Bill Bell developed an interest in painting during a successful career as musician and recording company executive. Totally self taught, he pursued art, prints and posters with subject matter based on memories and impressions of the people, places, pets and events that shaped his life growing up in Philadelphia.
Billís concern is with communicating information, rather than painting techniques and attitudes, he therefore works in acrylic for speed and ease. Each canvas teems with activity, color and organized clutter. Rarely utilizing a central focus, the viewer is led to explore all of the art, prints and posters and participate in a colorful search for the joyous details of a half-real world or nonsense.
Now a full-time painter, Bill Bell is represented by Jaro Art Gallery, New York City; Gallery duShayne, Montreal; and Longwood Art Gallery, Kennett Square, PA. He has produced art work used in prints, posters, greeting cards, puzzles, childrenís books, album covers, etc.. His originals are in private collections from Hong Kong to Beverly Hills; from Montreal to beautiful Hunterdon County, where Bill lives and works.
