Barbara Cleary

Artist Biography

"I can't tell people what to see because each person sees through the veil of his own experience.' Landscape artist Barbara Cleary lets her art, prints and posters speak for themselves. She paints both in her studio and in plein-air, working in all areas of the country, from the Arboretum and Botanical Gardens in South Central Kansas, to the lakes and rivers of Eastern Oklahoma, the desert of New Mexico, and the rocky coast of Maine.

Her sunlit botanicals and sweeping landscape art, prints and posters capture views and vistas with a discerning eye for pure color and light. Cleary was born and raised in Oklahoma.

With both a BA and an MA in education, she has taught art to people of all ages, from kindergarteners to adults. A co-founder of the Kansas Watercolor Society, and a member of the Fine Art Resource, Cleary is an active participant in the arts community. She is represented in Who's Who in American Art and exhibits her work across the country.
