Martin Henson

Martin Henson is a Yorkshireman, born and bred. Born into a family of farmers, Martin's love for the countryside and nature was immediate. As a photographer, he remembers his first camera vividly, given to him at the age of 12, and he still owns it! It is this little "Kodax Box Brownie' that sparked his interest in photography.

Martin Henson is a self taught photographer, inspired by photographers such as Ansel Adams, Fay Goodwin, and Bill Brandt. However, his main inspiration comes from within himself and from his time spent in nature. Martin is in awe of the beautiful landscapes that surround him; through his travels he has witnessed some of the most spectacular sights nature has to offer and is humbled by them.

Martin captures the sense of power and scale that nature holds, not as his camera may see it, but through his own interpretation through inspiration on witnessing many of the great events nature offers.

Martin Henson now resides in Horsforth in West Yorkshire, an ideal location where he never seems to run out of photographic opportunities. He shoots all of his images in digital format, and he does his own editing in his home studio. His favorite time to shoot is early morning or late evening, as the sun is low. Martin's love of photography has only grown since receiving his first camera, and he still has many visions of what he wants to portray; he gets great satisfaction from seeing his images in print so that others may share his inner vision and love of nature.
